This character model is based on a concept by Yoshitaka Amano, of whom I recently visited the exhibition “Amano’s World”. I made the base mesh in Character Creator 4, imported it in Zbrush to customize it, and then re-imported it in the program, allowing me to have optimised UVs and RIG. I made the hair strands in Maya using the plugin GS Curve, using Hair Maps created in Fibershop, which allowed me to keep the polycount much lower than if I had used XGen exlusively. Instead, I used XGen in the final stages, allowing me to create hair strands for LOD0. The base body is 60385 faces, the hairs on the head are 39261 faces (19711 if excluding xgen strands). I created the textures baking a high poly made in Zbrush and added photogrammetric skin details using Wrap 2024, baked them in Marmoset 5, and textured in Substance Painter. The clothing was created in Zbrush, Maya, Substance Painter and Marvelous Designer (for the soft clothes and the pockets on the armor). Character Creator 4 allowed me to do posed renders.
Made in Autodesk Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Marmoset Toolbag 5, Wrap, Character Creator 4, Fibershop, Marvelous Designer.
